ONE SOURCE VMS GOES STOCHASTIC!
After a substantial investment in pre-press, One Source Visual Marketing Solutions is proud to announce that we can now offer stochastic screening on our 6 color press. One Source VMS has the ability to both print and proof with stochastic screening. The proofing can be done on the actual stock being used on press which should hasten the approval process and eliminate surprises at the press.
But what is stochastic screening?
Stochastic screening is all about print quality. Stochastic screens produce a cleaner and more detailed image as well as a larger color gamut. On uncoated stock in particular, the technology has reportedly produced details the equivalent of up to twice the line resolution achievable with conventional screens.
In stochastic screening, images are created through a varying frequency of dots; these screens are also referred to as frequency-modulated, or FM. (”Stochastic” and “FM” can be used interchangeably) In conventional screening, only the dots’ size, or amplitude, varies-hence: AM screening.
Technology improvements do not mean, however, that you can purchase new screening software and simply press a button to start. Successful use of the technology makes other demands on the production process. One Source VMS has mastered all of these aspects.
“Stochastic printing is extremely beneficial to our color conscious or detail oriented clients, because it gives the quality of a photograph using an offset print,” commented Molly Waxman, Senior Account Executive at One Source VMS, after her recent completion of a project for Catherine Maladrino (featured above).
Stochastic printing is yet another example of the commitment One Source VMS has to new technologies in an effort to provide our clients with the finest quality. If you are interested in learning more about Stochastic Printing, contact our team of Account Executives for more information.
